ACTION Theatre: Sizing Up Imelda

ABOUT US

ACTION Theatre is a non-profit professional theatre company based in Singapore. Founded in 1987 by its artistic director Ekachai Uekrongtham, the company focuses on developing and presenting original new plays and musicals. It has produced more than 200 productions of Singapapore works as well as a number of Asian Premieres of Pulitzer Prize-winning plays.

These include Chang & Eng - The Musical, Corporate Animals, Mail Order Brides, Ka-Ra-you-OK?, Autumn Tomyam, Everything But The Brain, Hitting (On) Women, Wit, Proof, Doubt and Iron.

Winner of the Excellence for Singapore Award, ACTION Theatre runs, as part of its Singapore Theatre Oasis programme, a Playwriting Spa to nurture and develop new local plays and playwrights.

Also part of the programme is Theatre Idols, an annual competition in search of the most promising new plays to be staged by ACTION Theatre - as voted via SMS by members of the public.
